The correction nobody selling a course will make
OSHA does not certify people.
It authorizes providers, and the course produces a Department of Labor card. Anyone selling you an “OSHA certification” is either sloppy or counting on you not knowing the difference. Eight organizations are authorized to deliver Outreach training online. That list is public, and this is it.

NYC replaced a required course today
As of August 1, 2026 the 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness course can no longer be delivered in New York City. The 2-Hour Mental Health Awareness course replaces it and now counts toward SST renewal. Any guide written before today is out of date on this.

Common questions
Is the OSHA 10 free?
The federal program is voluntary, and no authorized provider gives the online course away. Nevada is the exception that matters: the state's own SCATS program runs 10 and 30-hour OSHA courses at no charge. Read August 1, 2026.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30?
OSHA 10 is for workers, OSHA 30 for supervisory employees. Nevada's statute makes exactly that split. In New York City the split is different: 40 hours of SST for workers, 62 for supervisors.
How long until the card arrives?
Only one provider publishes a figure: ClickSafety says the DOL card ships within 2 weeks. The other seven do not state a timeframe on their own page, so we do not print one.
Does an OSHA card expire?
The DOL Outreach card itself does not carry an expiration date. Local credentials do: the New York City SST card lasts five years, with a one-year grace period during which the expired card does not get you on site.
